I've not experienced probs with gloriosa, it would be lovely in a shower bouquet, with Milano or Baccara roses, what about a bit of trailing asparagus fern with it? Cut off some of the leaves to make it a bit more delicate and airy. I wouldn't worry about your bouquet matching the reception, so long as it goes with your frock that's all that matters really.
