Hi Rosa alba,

Sorry it took me a while to reply.

Listening to the others I realise that my course is very basic in comparison to C&G. In level 1 we had to put in about 54 hours of course time, and probably 20 or so of our own time to bring our folders up to scratch.

From the top of my head we did practicals on: open wreaths, button holes, baskets, posy pads, oval table arrangements, aqua bouquets, funeral sheifs, hostess bouquets and single flower wraps.

We also did theory on the colour wheel, health and safety, wiring, sundries, flower care, and different types of flower/foliage.

We had to complete a project researching buttonholes, practicing and then producing a final product that was packaged.

Wow, reading all of that back has made me realise there was a fair amount involved!!! I can't wait for level 2 where we will be focusing more on bridal work.

I think the best thing you can do as an employer is check their portfolio, and ask them to make something infront of you. At the end of the day the paper certificate means nothing in comparison to ability/experience.
