Well if what she says is right, then it needs to be hardened off before it goes outside. Am sure it would be quite happy as an indoor plant. Personally think it may be better out tho! I would say after the frosts and things start warming up again it could probably go outside. Plenty of water, and manure (v important for roses to get them used to new soil!!)
BUT to get a rose stem to grow she must have really looked after it, given it rooting powder etc...is all the hassle worth it when I'm sure you can get an equally nice white rose at the garden centre!! I really do hope she wasn't expecting rainbow coloured flowers!!!
