I changed careers too, when i was 25, and started by trying a taster course in floristry before jacking in my crappy job to do a 2 year full time BTEC national diploma (only managed to do that because of exceptional circumstances though, so i grabbed the opportunity whilst it was there!!!)
I don't really think the second year of our course was much use, so i would recommend doing a one year course to learn the basics, get in a shop for some work experience, then learn properley 'on-the-job' afterwards. Don't be fooled though - it can be cold, hard work, you're either sitting around like a lemon or rushing round like a blue-arsed-fly - but good fun & very rewarding!
Plus, 6 years down the line, i now have my own shop
