When i opened my shop in november it created quite a bit of interest as i was taking over a shop that had been empty for quite a while. what with all the refurbishment going on by the time i opened people were chomping at the bit to be nosy. so, i wanted the shop to look fantastic from day one. my view was that i would run a huge line in every style of flower, i did my homework and spread it out so i had some run of the mill (for the old girls) some really unusual for the hip/trendy people and being very multicultural round her i made sure i had exotics in as weel.
it seems to have paid off. i ran at a loss for that first week but now i am in profit or on the nose nearly every week, people come to me because they know i either have it in or can get it in the next day (might be a problem if you buy off the van). what id did do though was make loads of designs and put them in the window. all designs for everyone. lets them see your work without having to 'trust' the new florist.


good luck darlin, it will be ok. just remember, it is fine to make mistakes, everyone does. just make sure you learn from them.
