de-thorn or not

Hello all,
A quick question if anyone has an answer I have taken on a trainee just last week and she was conditioning roses for me and she mentioned that at the training course that she just completed the tutor said not to de-thorn the roses that its no longer a practice, (i'm aware of baceteria and all that) and i believe that is the reason not to de-thorn but. Where do we stand with insurance if a customer gets hurt by a thorn???? Any ideas anyone..
