Ruscus aculeata
Raven, the garden common name for this ruscus is butcher's broom. It is ABSOLUTELY dead easy to grow in a British garden. It will take sun or partial shade, but has to have well-drained soil. Gardeners like it because it will grow in dry, sandy soil in light shade where most things won't and makes a nice ground cover. Any good garden centre should have it, or try crocus.co.uk.
