Smile Danae was the mother of Perseus of Greeek myth

Not as easy to grow as the ruscus (although it used to be a ruscus before the botanists got chop happy and divided the family), the gardener's common name is Alexandrian laurel (why I have no idea) and it can be hard to establish. It is hardy, though, and will do everything from full sun to full shade as long as the soil is moist and has good drainage (hates clay) when you are trying to establish it. I'd give it partial shade, though. In full shade, I have seen established plants tolerate pretty dry soil and spread like mad. Wyevale used to carry it, but I would try specialists like Burncoose Nurseries or Architectural Plants. It does spread, though, so you may not love it so much once you have it!
