not quite flowers - plants advice plz

I'll try again in the right section ---- see flower chat ()

In 2 weeks we are doing a large garden planted design of our own choice
Help
I would really like to do some long lasting plants that will flower in Claret (Burgundy) and Blue.
The pot is quite large about 2ft square and 18 inches deep. I have no idea about plants but know I would like the finished product to be in the Aston Villa footbal team colours (I have my reasons)
Perenials - would be good - so i don't have to keep replanting it or trying to find replacements and hopefully something that will cover the top cos we have a house full of cats (nuff said)
Can any one give me any ideas plz something that is available now but not necessary flowering now.
thanks
