Hi everyone,
I'd be happy to offer some window advice. As for lighting, I can only go on what we use in retail so I don't know how they would affect fresh flowers in a window. We use large spotlights for overall light and then small directional halogen spotlights - very hot and bright! But they are great for pointing onto a particular item to highlight and draw attention to it.
As for rules, principles...... I remember having it drummed into us every day at college that you must always start with clean windows and floor as even the best dressed window will be spoilt by not paying attention to the little details! When you are doing a grouping of items to make a display, keep it to a 'pyramid' shape and odd numbers work well. For example, if you had a shelf and wanted to place identical things in a row, it tends to look better if there are 3 or 5 items.
For a pyramid shape, start with the tallest item either in the middle or to one side and then work down on either both sides or on one side to create the shape. It's hard to explain!!
I hope this has made sense and helps a little...
