we just had some for a wedding and it actually didn't smell at all...was a pink one we used. Am guessing it may be the different chemicals different growers may use. I used to have a very bad allergic reaction to solidaster, but now I don't, hence why I think its how its treated at the growers.

If you really can't stand the smell try putting a few drops of lavender essential oil in the water...the flower takes it up and smells better...we use the same trick with alliums...
