Hello, yes I know what you mean about 'interflora shop' I used to work in a Teleflorist shop and it would drive us up the wall when people said 'can we send it by interflora?'

But hey - we're going to the 'other side' that is Interflora. It'll be interesting to compare...

I took the plunge 3 months ago and opened a shop from scratch, like you i gave up my job with 5 weeks paid hols and every weekend and bank holiday off, its the best thing i ever did,i wish i had done it sooner. This site is brilliant for advice and everyone is really friendly.

Reassuring to hear from others who have done it! I will keep you informed on how it goes and I'm sure we'll be coming on here for advice regularly, this is certainly going to be one of the toughest things we've ever done!

Still can't get my head around that we will be our own boss..!

Hi All

Just to say things are ticking along with purchasing the business - we're still aiming to take over 1st October but as solicitors are now involved I wouldn't be surprised if that slows down...

I was wondering, what would be your top tips when taking over a florist (apart from keep things the same as much as possible until you've assessed what works and doesn't work).

Any top tips would be great!

try and agree a change over period I had a month at the shop before I took over when I just lurked about asking the owner lots of questions and getting to know the regular customers, current procedures, IF stuff (very complicated) and staff etc

by the time my month was up I was armed and ready to implement necessary changes. good luck

p.s. if you can try and get on the I.F. new members course before you take over cos its two day in sleaford out of the shop
