Hi there,
I joined this forum because Ive just enrolled with college after much research to train as a florist. Im really looking forward to it in september. Any tips for a complete noob?

Yeah Ive written a letter to my local nursery they have a massive floristry area and the friendliest cats in the world. Fingers crossed for that one. Do you think that will be the best way to get a job in a shop by writing letters?

Hi Meggymoo, welcome to the forum. Am sure you'll enjoy it.

I am just about to start level 2 C&G and there are a few others on here studying too.

I would go into shops in person rather than writing and try and engage the owner/manager - when you start your course, depending on what you need from week to week you'll be in the florists quite a bit especially for foliage which you can't get from the supermarket! If they get to know you and you've been buying regularly from them, they might give you work experience further down the line. Where are you based?

Im based in leicester and theres quite alot of florists about here. Ill just have to get over my shyness. Its silly really Im really quite an out going person but when its comes for asking for stuff I bottle up lol.

Even ask for Sat suggest you will work for free that usually helps (only for free Sats)

Hi Meggymoo and welcome to the site. I'm half way thru a 2 year C&G NCF level 2 floristry course. I went into 2 shops for my work exp, the first were quite shitty but the second was great, I now do the odd Saturday (paid) for them, only as a joey mind but all experience is good exp. When they are quiet they let me try stuff, have sent ou bouquets and funeral sprays I have made. Good Luck. What course are you studying, there seems to be so many?
