I do know what you mean about paying the rent . I still had to go by the law and apply for a zoning ordnance because my studio is on my land and I had to get a permit to have a sign in my yard, almost the same crap as having a B&M oh well I like being at home with my own hours I still have alot of kids to raise. well i welcme you the problem i have is with some that think they are florists as they have done some wedding flowers for a friend and they were happy with the crap they produced then open a shop that i helped make the excellent reputation off then they just wreck it by doing shite even after i offer to give them training you got me on one now

so no a big welcome from me and my buddy IanF also works from home

Hi Tracy.
I am another who now works from home, but I did my stint of having B+M for over 20 years.
Actually, the main reason I am home based is just because I cannot get a shop within 25 miles. My nearest village is 4 miles away, and that has a chip shop, 2 village shops, a bank, a hairdressers and a chemists.
Nearest small town is 10 miles away, that does actually boast a tiny Sommerfields store, and resident florist and gift shop.
It's okay doing the travelling in summer, but I hate the back roads up here in winter.
Aah well. something may come up locally, but shops up here seem to stay in the family for generations.

I know what you mean.. I understand totally But I do have loads of info and I love to share what I have learned over the years..I did work in a B&M shop for 6 years and I know it's a lot of hard work to keep it up and running. I also offer my service to local shops at holiday time. it's a win win thing they need the help and it's a slower season for me. and I get to do what I love work with flowers..

Hi Tracey, welcome to the gang, I closed my shop last week, now doing freelance from home, only been 5 days, and orders are coming in, customers like the idea of me going to their homes with the design books especially for funerals, I'm based in the south of England near Brighton, where abouts are you (being nosey) in the States?
