Late starter
Hi everyone
Just wanted to introduce myself - I've been reading the posts for sometime now to get a feel for the good and the bad aspects of the industry. I'm taking the plunge and starting a career change at the age of 46! Given up a nice part time receptionists job to start 2 year floristry course next week. Oh my God what have I done?! Jules |

Late Starter
Thanks for your encouragement everyone - its 1 year Level 2 and then 1 year Level 3 at Merrist Wood, Guildford. Can't wait to start but money will be tight. Hope I will be able to get a paid part time job in a florist shop at some point although I appreciate I will need to get plenty of work experience at first on an unpaid basis. Would anyone know of any opportunities in the Guildford/Dorking area?

You are just a young thing starting out. 3 years ago I enroled a college in Edinburgh for a 1 year level 2 C & G thought I was going to be the grannie of the class I was 3rd oldest, that made me feel better. Look out for all grants available, folk get them but do not tell you what is on offer, just ask others on your course what they are getting, some had travel allowance and other allowances...just ask and good luck. Best job in the world. Even on the s..t days. be happy
