Hi everyone When I first posted on here I was asking for advice on starting up a business on my own but Im not privileged enough to have my own shop, Which in time would love to have one, some have to start somewhere at the bottom and in my case is that, I don't wish to tread on anyones toes but working for someone else my gives them the credit for my work and iIn return I get minium wage, Which yes I understand as well its hard for employers to pay a good wage because of all their overheads so thats why im trying to start on my own!!

All I was saying was that the way I see it is we just have to do what works best for us in our own lives and with Sharon having childcare to consider she needs flexibility for that at this stage.

Yes, lucky me! But think you've misunderstood - I won't be 'training' there - that's what my college course is for. She has looked at my portfolio and offered my some work at Christmas time believing that I am good enough to be an asset to her and not a hindrance.
My delay in getting a shop is mainly due to I wouldn't dream of opening a shop not having experienced at least Christmas, Valentines, Mothers Day in that environment. I want all angles covered, because I want to be a success.

I mean with people who keep working from home not doing it as a proper business, just doing this and that on the side, they are taking away from shop owners.
If this keeps happening, there wont be any shops for students to find placements at, and it'll ruin it for them because owners wont trust that they arent taking business from under their noses. |

Oh I see. Like I said before, can see it from both sides and my long term plan is definitely to open a shop. Even though I could do it financially now, don't see the point without experience which may be being over cautious.
This is probably a long running debate that will never be resolved - there are always going to be homeworkers and freelancers in most businesses doing so because it suits their needs at that time. I'd love to see some stats (which of course am sure don't exist) as to size of the floristry market - shops/supermarkets/homeworkers to see what threat the homeworkers really are.
