Hi there LULU, welcome to the site. I agree with all the advice that has been given to you. All I would add is don't worry, enjoy yourself. Being a florist is the second best thing that I ever did. (the first was being a Mum) I love going to work. I love being with the flowers and I love meeting and chatting to people. I'd love it even more if most of those people bought something before leaving the shop
but you can't have everything you want in life Look forward to chatting to you again LULU ![]()

exam tomorrow!!!!!!!!!panic
Hi everyone, thanks for your replies - nice to know that there are students just as nervous and excited as me!I have got my practical exam tomorrow at college - so Ihave just been getting my college stuff ready. The assessment is for C & G level creative floristry techniques and the assessment is a hand tied arrangement in a hand made collar for a corporate function. I have designed a rustic collar sort of oval shaped and interlocked out of red dog wood, contorted willow, pussy willow, winter jasmine and some prunis stems. I hve then wrapped around this with green decorative wire and I have wired chestnuts (like a necklace) onto some decorative wire and wrapped this around the frame. My hand tied arrangement is based on Autumnal colours, so I have used the pussy willow and dog wood in the centre to give this some height and I will be grouping sunflowers (no petals), safari, kangeroo foot (rustic orange), some orange roses (not sure of their name - will be looking up in book ready for tomorrow), some philodrengon leaves (again I will be using the correct spelling in my write up I can assure you), purple cabbages (orange and purples go nice). So my write up is that it is an order for a new converted barn/come hotel and they requested this rustic theme to be put on the reception desk for visitors to the hotel on the open night etc blah blah blah. This will be put into a very large glass vase filled with pine cones, and mixed nuts and chestnuts to cover the stems. The practical is tomorrow - but we have 2 weeks to do the assessment write up and the whole lot is presented in a folder with photos' and sent to C&G's who assess the work. There is only 3 students doing this course - so wish us all luck. New computer and I am not and I.T whizz kid so with a little help from some one who knows I hope to get my photo's to you for your perusal and comments. In placement today and very quiet cold weather in Liverpool - putting customers off. This is a new shop that I am in (only opened in August) and they still have not got xmas dec's up or done any wreaths??? Are other florists shops this far behind? Hope all is well, let you know how I get on ![]() Lulu |
