Don't have much time to spare for this sort of thing normally. Logged in a couple of nights ago just to see what people had to say about Interflora. I have been in the business over 20 years. Long story but ended up selling up 5 years ago - said I'd find an easier way to make a living - missed one Valentines and promptly bought another shop!
Previous shop was Interflora - which was great- pre sell out. New shop was Teleflorist - which I hated - been Interflora now for 12 months under new structure.........I have a lot to say about that.......... decided to pull the plug on executing this week......... I have a lot to say about that too........ anyway Hi all

I may regret ever getting into this as I really do have some very strong views, especially about relay. The bottom line is we are all working ourselves to death for very little margins where relay is concerned. I am very business orientated and have done my maths over and over. We should not be prepared to offer our skills and be happy to accept the margins we do on our relay orders. A simple equation - for every £10 I put in my till from my local business I make 45% - for every £10 of relay business I do I am lucky to clear 15% - not good enough! It just means my overall margins are slashed the more relay I do.

Well said We found this an although im still in relay80% of my orders i courier from here, only just started to do this in nov, costs me £8.00
for the box to be picked up and delivered inc price of box.We only do this for orders over30.00 flowers and plants over 20.00. we only put funeral orders and orders at lower price onto relay. works very well for us and we dont have to pay the high commision to line somebody elses pockets!!I know the florist s on the same relay are loosing out on my orders but hey, do they benefit?no. also if i know a good florist in the area i phone them with a c/c and they get the amount less the 4.99service charge.( sorry to rattle on ) by the way your pics are fabulous a true pro

We shouldn't have to resort to that, but I can see why you do. Fortunately I have very good local business and don't rely on relay. My website generates a lot of local profitable business (for very little outlay) and I could afford to offer discounts for orders placed online - something I've never done before - but I figured if I'm prepared to give away such massive margins to the relays I should at least be prepared to offer some of that back to the customer
