Hi (new member)
Hello everyone. I have never used one of these forums before so excuse me if I am a bit rubbish at it. I have just finished a 10wk course in floristry and seem to be addicted! I would appreciate any advise anyone can give me regarding courses. There doesn't seem to be a C&G course round here that I can practically attend so I have been doing a course with a local flower school, only problem is that it has no official qualification at the end. In your experience will a decent portfolio be sufficient to get work/start up a business of my own? Or can you suggest an alternative professional qualification that is recognised out there. I was wondering whether to carry on at the flower school and maybe do a distance learning course as well - any one know of any good ones?![]() |

Hi Rudbeckia, welcome to the site
. There are lots of members on here that are on courses around the country and im sure you will get good advise. Its 25 years since my college course at Plymouth, but i know that you can do a NVQ and btec Floristry. If you go onto Society of Floristry website there is advise on different courses on there. I would strongly recommend that you get a job and many years experience under your belt before thinking of owning your own shop though ! |

Hi Rudbeckia, welcome
Now's the time to be looking into courses as they start with the academic year in September. I did City and Guilds part time - on Saturdays - to fit in with my job (nothing to do with floristry). Good luck ![]()
