Obituary - Lawrence Dimmock of Flowergram
Lawrence Dimmock, much loved founder of the Flowergram relay network, passed away on Saturday 15 November 2008 aged 73 years. Sadly missed by many people in the flower industry in the UK Lawrence was a kind, generous man who thought that people were more important than anything else.
He was a passionate supporter of the British Florist Association and fought hard to ensure its survival in difficult times over the paxt few years. he was also instrumental in the adoption of Macmillan Cancer Relief by Flowergram resulting in the rasing of over £130,000 for such a worthy cause. Perhaps a few more people of his qualities would have been welcome in our undustry in recent years to counteract the corporate beasts that seem to have taken over....? Lawrence's funeral was to be held in Spain on Saturday 22 November with a memorial service in England in the next few weeks (date tba) God Bless you Lawrence, one of the last real gentlemen in a dog eat dog world. |

Thanks Maxrocks for posting the Obituary for Lawrence Dimmock of Flowergram. It must have been very sad to him to see Flowergram absorbed by Flowers Direct, one of the corporate beasts you speak about.
Let's hope more men of Lawrence's type can be found if real floristy is to survive. RIP Lawrence.
