Not nosy at all! It all depends on where you are I suppose. I bought the lease on a gift shop back in March so I've had to build up the floristry side of the business from scratch and change all the stock as it was a bit poo before. I opened the week before Mothers Day which was a real baptism of fire but I got great feedback and repeat business from it. Its all about getting your name out there. My takings have gone up considerably over the past four months so its going in the right direction. I'm in a town centre position so I'm very lucky with passing trade. You need a very understanding partner too as they'll be supporting you through it, financially and emotionally!

only been married 3mths so maybe i'll break him in gently!!! im thinking of going down the mostly corportate route to help me keep costs down, allowing me to use space on the land we have but its the business plans and tax side that worry me. I can't imagine strolling into the bank in a power suit without feeling like a total eejit!! my friend opened up on 13th feb this year and she seems to be going strong too ... maybe i should wait until christmas and jump off at the deep end!!

I hate banks!! Mine were next to useless. I had to take a 25K loan and I had no idea that business lending costs so much more than personal lending. The interest rates are astronomical. Luckily my boyfriend took it out in his name and I just Direct Debit to his account. I honestly thought the bank would be more willing to help but all they are interseted in is selling you stuff so they can make even more money. Grrr. I hate them and I think my bank manager hates me too cos I give him grief!
You'll save a huge amount if you can use your own land too. |

tell them you love there policies!! a winner everytime. we deal with a lot of "bankers" and they can't resist giving you a grilling on your finances. i don't agree with it but sometimes acting like a sweet lil girlie can work wonders!!
