Mrs Doubtfire, herbs are used a lot more in wedding designs now. They smell lovely and if you pick them just before you need them they'll last for ages. I've used sage and basil, thyme anything really!

I'm sure there's technical things you can do like use proper rooting powder but I've have just stuck some straight into the soil in my garden and it's growing fine, if your sprigs are very little I would put them in pots first.

They like a gritty compost too, best start them in pots somewhere hot and sunny. I'm sure Carol will have a tip or two for you, I'll just have a look...

gardening section

Oh yes please. A gardening section would be great. I get so many people coming into the shop asking gardening tips - it would be so useful.

Good idea....

'Stuff From Your Garden'

There is so much available in the garden at the right time of year and it's silly not to use it when you can. If you've got a reasonable sized plot it makes sense to grow stuff you can use. you can always grow stuff in large pots and leave it behind the shop if you have room.

rosemary plants for cut foliage

l have also got my eye on some of my neighbours crab apple trees for an October wedding and l have also been known to cut blackberry stems from hedges. l found that becoming a florist has made me look at things in a completely different way ........

Rosemary for remembrance. I always try to put a sprig in my funeral work.

I took a huge rosemary shrub to the tip last weekend. 2 wheelie bins full as was too big for space in garden and got 2 other large bushes of it on the other side. It went from a small pot plant to 4ft tall 3ft diameter in 4 years, had pushed through the gap in the glass of the greenhouse and was like a triffid !! kept some to hang and dry as smells wonderful. We use it in funeral pieces and is great. Grow it in a sheltered space south facing dry conditions
