Of course, another thing to point out to the 'Royal family', is the change of colour of each flower are different in different seasons. Don't forget, usually, the bride and maids carry the opposite colour to what they are wearing, so normally there is no chance of a clash of colour if you do your job right. Sorry, if she lets you do your job right!! Looks like you need a lotta luck babe

So the moral of the story is ................. never let the brides mother and co. come to the consultation, always remember that your the expert, and mostly never promise anything! I had a horrendous time once with a brides mother and politely told the bride that if she wanted me to do her flowers that I would only see her on her own, she was so relieved, apparently ma had chosen the venue, dress, meal, music (and probably the groom) the poor girl had been totally browbeaten but eventually put her foot down and insisted she did the flowers, she was delighted.
Anyway in the words of the other 'royle' family - flowers my a*!*.

We're all thinking of you on this one!!

Hi Ian dont know if you sorted your roses or not but I once used baccarra roses wrapped the underneath with tissue and held a small amount of tissue on the top sprayed the rest with a light spray of black paint this looked quite nice (wearing gloves of course) it may or may not be the look youre after but maybe worth a try. hope it helps good luck.

for goodness sake,we are florists, flowers are flowers. we can only do a good job with the available stock we can buy. Why do the public want us to achieve goals that are beyond the natural, without using false products???
It's like asking a mini builder to put a jag engine into the bodywork, something will go 'tits up'. You could end up with all the grief at the end when it doesnt go right

Dear All

Firstly I wanted to thank you all for your support and advice in relation to the dying of flowers for this wedding I am doing soon. I’ve told the Bride and the rest of the ‘wonderful family’!!!! together with who ever have chipped in along the way that dying roses, calla lilies and any other flower is not achievable.

After a detailed conversation with the Bride and the rest of the Royal blinkered clan, I can mow confirm that the Bride is having IVORY calla lilies with BURGUNDY RIBBON to pick up the colour. The bridesmaids are having hand-tied posies made up of mainly ivory roses. Sod the lot of them. I am the expert and that is what they are paying me for.

They are not having too many calla lilies once I told them the price from the wholesaler. £2.00 I was quoted per stem. Has the calla lily world gone mad? If I have to see another bloody calla lily I will be doing a funeral and not the Royal Wedding 2006 the family are making this out to be….

Thanks once again to you all. I appreciated your support

three cheers Ian,
You have just demolished another wall between yourself and a profitable career in retail floristry.

BTW.. Have done 2 sundries mail order to Northern Ireland this week. Is there a gap in the market?
