doubt glueing would make a difference, could you put a fix a bigger piece of oasis just where the heliconias are going? I think you will need a certain depth of oasis to steady them especially if you are making it and then transporting it

if you really can't use thicker oasis you could try using 2 stubb wires. bend them in half with a rounded middle, push the stubb wire in the oasis at an angle using one at the front and one at the back. make sure the wire is pushed right up to the stem about 1 inch higher than the top of the oasis. it might anchor them in in for you and you you could use oasis glue to glue the wires in.
did you get that sounds confusing to me as well . not vey good at axpalining thing with the written word. sorry

Sounds a little precarious NewGirl. If they look like they're going to fall over, then sod's law, they probably will. You haven't said what the design will look like, how tall etc, so a bit hard to visualize and suggest something. Even if you can bond the stems to the oasis, if the oasis is not bonded to the container, and moreso, if the container itself is not heavy enough, the whole thing can still fall over. There's no magic answer, it's just mechanics. Physics, gravity, logic, whatever. The more you can balance the design, the more chance it has of standing up. Unfortunately, correctly balanced is not always visually pleasant or 'cutting edge' design.
