Freesias

Hi, I have a question for Gringo, but to be honest I find this site so complicated I'm not sure I'm in the right area. (Any chance of an idiot's guide to using this site being displayed somewhere obvious please).
However, I have a bride getting married next August and wants fragrant white freesia and white peonys. Can you suggest some names for both of these please? All the white freesias I can find are either not very scented or have a big yellow or lilac splash on the petals.

Freesia nowadays has a tendancy not to be that strongly scented any more because of the varieties grown. I cant unfortunately help with a particular variety that is more scented than another. The best varieties are either Ambassador or Elegance in the singles and Versailles as a double variety (slightly better scented) and the peony you need is Duchess de Nemour.

The big problem with scented flowers is that by all the cross breeding that has taken place in the past, they lose the smell. Almost all scented rose varieties have vanished due to the fact that they had very poor keeping qualities.

Hope this helps a bit.

Gringo
