parallel assessment...I passed
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who gave me their in-put for my assessment and assignement. If I ever suss how to post a photo I will. My tutor was so pleased with me that the head of department read my assignement & looked at my design & they have asked me to join the degree course next year. I began this City & Guilds course in September, having done nothing floristry wise prior to this. It just happened that the course runs on a Thursday which is my day off work, so I decided to give it a go. I am really chuffed that they think I'm good enough for degree course!!

Congratulations Hells
Must ask, what was the assignment, I'm doing the City & Guilds at the mo so will be getting this to do I would imagine. We've had 5 practical assessments so far and I seem to be getting better with each one as my confidence grows. |

A brief description of the degree course is... a creative course using a variety of design aspects including traditional, period, modern and experimental constructions. Incorporated within these designs are the latest trends in manipulation of both fresh and artificial plant material & experimental designs using modern decorative accessories. The course includes business, marketing in relation to the floral industry, photography, special event management etc!
Sounds like you are doing a different city and guilds to me as our course only entails 3 assessments. For each assessment we have to complete an accompanying assignement, saying where our inspiration came from, investigating current trends etc. thanks for your good wishes xxx |

Wow, I didn't think there were so many different courses for floristry. We do no written work for assessments but have to do assignments on different things ie Colour Wheel, Georgian Times, Light & Colour and many more I wouldn't wonder. We also have an exam in June for learning 30 flowers/10 foliages, botanical and common name, stem structure and availability.
