Hi Planter,
I'm guessing it's not a massive wedding as it is so soon, so if I was you I would speak to your wholesaler. They will be able to give you advice, prices & options. If you are unsure of what they suggest you can look up on the internet & see if it is suitable. I am suggesting this as the wedding is obviously in only a few weeks & you don't really have that much time, also I do not know your budget. I hope this has been of some help, good luck, it is a very exciting time for you. Let us know how you get on. |

Hi Planter colours can be really difficult, e.g. if you ask the dutch for cream you will end up with lemon/yellow. Everyone percieves colour differently, peach is probably the worst. Anyway I think of pink avalanche as being a sort of dusky pink and I would use Akito Olieman/lady for the ivory. To be sure you may have to ask your wholesaler to get some in for you to look at, hopefully you can sell them on. Good luck.

Thanks for the good advice,we are seeing the Bride to be this coming week, we have been given various wedding magazines so we thought it might be best to show her them to get an idea of the shade of roses she wants and then take it to the wholesaler.Got to get these choices right, it is only a small wedding but we are hoping to make a good impression.New business, thinking of future sales

Have you actually seen the shade of "dusky pink" or has the customer said its called dusky pink. Peoples perception of colours (and what they name them to be) are wildly different from one person to the next.
I've had a woman in the shop before now complaining that the peach carnations I'd used in a basket arrangement were pink and not peach (i HAD used peach) when I asked her to pick out the peach carnations she liked in the shop, she picked out bright orange. When dealing with wedding flowers, you have ONE shot to get it right, if you screw up they can never have that day again. I ALWAYS ask to see samples of fabric before ordering the flowers, so really planter it is difficult for any of us to really give you an answer without seeing the colour you are trying to match or compliment. dusky pinks are the most difficult to match, getting the wrong shade of flower can throw a whole wedding scheme. Ivory is another colour which is difficult, too white a rose against a creamier shade of ivory fabric and it can make the dress look dirty. My advice to you would be to get some samples of fabric and take them to your wholesaler, they can advise you on the best variety of roses and when their delivery is possible to you. It seems I have upped the pressure on you for getting these flowers just right... good!. Designing a brides wedding flowers is an extremely important job and should not be done without proper research, knowledge or skill. I do appreciate however, we have all had to do our first wedding some time and you do obviously want to do it right or you wouldn't have asked a question on this site! So I wish you good luck and hope all goes well! Jo |

Hi Jo, thankyou for your brilliant advice, my daughters are really anxious that they get things right, a few heart flutters no doubt, but as you say everyone has to do their first wedding. My daughter works in a florist so has some experience, but it is totally different when the design and choices dealing with the customer comes down to you.
Thanks again Alison |
