Flower chains

Hi Guys

This is a first for me!

I've been asked to make some flower chains (Bollywood style) using mixed flowers to hang over a bed and 2 door frames. I'm going to make them using fishing wire or reel wire and prob use mainly mixed chrysanths but I have no idea how to work out a cost!!!

Each chain will be approx 2 mtrs long. I don't stock chrysanths, so I cant try a mock up now to work out how many I need.

Any guesses at how much I should charge for each chain??

Thanks guys
MD

Do they want just a single strand of flowers like the garlands worn at asian weddings? these look very attractive on people but I'm not sure how good they would look on something big like a door frame. You might be better with a proper garland that's thicker

Hi

Yeah, its like the ones worn around the neck that they want. They want quite a few of them, on mass I think they'd like effective. Proper garlands are too bulky for the look they want.

???

They're called leis. I have made them before...most recently for a hawaiian themed christmas works do!

I used oasis poly-tie, looped twice round for chair legs upside down. Knot another piece to it and blanket stitch flowers in. I used carnation heads pulled apart and alternated the direction. Make sure you can get it off over the legs afterwards!

i did these on a tv programme once (name drop with nick knowles), hawaiin leis. I found that the thick wire (not sure of its name), decoartive coloured stuff is good and then some really open carnation blooms all different colours chop the heads off and then thread them through and then tie the wire at the end. they look really good. Not sure if this is what you mean though but that is how i was advise to do a lei and it worked.
