oh sorry flower, totallly misunderstod.
You will have to explain again. Thats sound pretty big. The biggest flower and plant show. But how.. you come with the design, already made. and then thatīs is judged.? We have something here in dk, called the Garden Living fair. with plants and all that. and then there is a comp, for florist. giving an asignment, that they also have ready from home. is it like that. I only know, you have the "chealsy" show, canīt remember the spelling. Our comp is like this. Danish Flower union, for florists shops members only. They arrange every second year, comp for the regions. The winners of the regions goes to Danish Championship. The winner of this then goes on to the europe cup. Then we have some cupīs outside of this. Tivoli cup, and the internationel cup for teams called 6.juli cup. we do also sometimes have some smaller cupīs if there is some speciel events. |

bellis,
You create your design at your shop or where ever and take it ready made to the show. Then you stage it (or plonk it on the table!) The judges start @ 7am on the Wednesday and results are known about 11ish... you get a schedule on the classes and then its your interpretation thats judged. The North of England Horticultural Society harrogate spring show, it has plant's and flowers and other things there, so a bit like the one you mentioned. Harrogate Flower Shows Hope this link works!!!! There is a picture of what I did last year in the gallery, the sweetie one.. Chelsea is bigger but I cannot enter as I have not the relevant qualifications!!! and im going to have to do some Research in to the other comps around england...unless some one knows of any?

oh now I see.
It looks like fun. an must be an amazing show. Can one enter more than one class. or is it one only. The assignments looks atractive. Itīs a bit different from what I know. We only have two classes. Senior and junior. Senior is all florist. junior is for florist trainees (with the papers in order) only. That means, only trainess that is imployed and atached to flowerschool only. So if our afterschoool girl would like to try, she would have to enter in seniorclass. and the "poor" juniors are imidiately putted in seniorclass from the moment they pass there exam. There have been some talk about creating a veteran class. some of the cupīs one can only enter, if invited. So itīs a pretty closed world. but it appears to me, that the way you "english people" do it, is more fun. more social. Or do I get that wrong. |

Well it is fun but social??? a lot of ppl just grab and go after the show so dont get to speak much, which is a shame....the flowers arrangers are more talkative lol.
There is student classes = ppl with less than 2yrs experience and some of the designs are fab!!!! Cant wait for them to move on in to the next stage of the comps....hehehe (I gave the student comp a trophy for this class as I felt students should be able to hold a cup as well) SO Started my structure today for the comp and a good sign, it fell into place. No frustration at all (that gives me brain block) should be smooth running when I add the flowers and foliages Off to see if I can scrounge some "dude" props from the outlet nr me to enhance the area....we shall see they may just think Im a nutter and usher me out of the shop...lol Regards, flower
