Its the " wicker" word I dont know the meaning of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's hard to explain....wicker is wicker. It's like thick straw thats threaded to form a shape. So imagine a coffin shape, but instead of it being made out of wood it's done in like a thick straw thats woven....if you get what i mean

I remember when i first started floristry i was 16, and our delivery driver died of a heart attack, the undertakers the family used were within walking distance to the shop. The wife ordered a 6ft cross, me and my boss walked it over to the undertakers, he asked us to put it straight out the back. We didn't realise he meant in the room where all the coffins were. We had to put the cross on the top of his coffin, not realising the lid wasn't bolted down, and it moved.....i daren't look in, i just had this picture in my head of seeing his feet...it was awful.
I got out pretty quickly, and my boss gave the undertaker a bollocking.
Thats one experience i'll never forget

This was my compromise!

I thought it best to give the lady some of what I knew she liked ........ thanks Rosa!. Maple’s post gave me some inspiration with the clustered design ..... thanks Maple!

I was too chicken to go too arty but thought this worked as a compromise.

Doing it in sections made it much easier to handle ........ I made all the sections up separately and then joined them together at the end. The collar of pink astilbe worked really well ........... it softened the whole design and I was able to make sure the short stems were in the water.

She seemed very pleased when we delivered it but she is used to getting massive bouquets so I suppose the novelty must wear off a bit .................. I’ll let you know if he comes back again

That looks fantastic Treen, Bit on the Heavy side!!! I think the groupings work really well as they make the whole design more defined and gives impact to each flower type. Good idea of tying the groups together first I wouldn't have thought of that one and would have had a real job getting everything to stay in place.
He's a fool if he doesn't come back.

My customer has just been in again for another £100 bouquet. She loved the hand tied for a change but he said she likes to mess with all the different flowers so he has ordered yet another bouquet!

At least he came back
