My assessmnet last week at college was for a formal bridal bouquet in foam. I sprayed the foam, not saturated it, then satined the handle. I placed materials straight in after that. I support wired my leading materials, and anchored larger focal roses and dendrobs in. The wire came out the back of the foam and I pushed it over one of the caging pieces to hold it in place.
It was hideous, and I would not have let it leave a shop! I would not have trusted the materials to stay in place for a wedding. I got a distinction though, I guess I have MUCH higher standards! I think an important trick is to be ABSOLUTELY sure about flower placement, cause you can't move them once they're in. My oasis crumbled to pieces! I would prefer to wire everything. It's reasonably quick once you get going. Those that glue in fresh oasis, do you glue the side of the stem, then place and soak foam afterwards? Some said they soak, wire and glue...in that order? Does the glue adhere to wet foam? waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle waffle...

Jake I cannot say much for your guidance: hmmmm: oasis crumbles!!! omg you have to be taught to use the holders methodically, frame the structure out in your brain
when I taught at college I used to throw my bq from one end of the class room to the other and nowt fell out. if u wire, cocktail stick, glue in to a wet, soaked holder you are fine and use the holder respectfully an once it’s in leave it in..... no in and out prating about and you will be fine: top: use it like a caplunk ![]() |

I usually am methodical, I think it was just the assessment that freaked me out! I always place my flowers on a flat surface and cut the stems where they cross, that way they are all the perfect length.
Thanks for the tips. Not sure I quite follow about the cocktail sticks. Do you mean stabbing the stem from above to hold it in place?
