Funeral piece with plants.... any ideas?

I've just had a customer who wants something for her brothers funeral but with plants.

Anyone done anything like this before or have any suggestions.

I was thinking perhaps doing a casket spray with foliage then somehow inserting potted plants along it?

I made a big posy pad once that had pot plant african violets in, silver cineraria, and other bits from the garden.

Looked really nice and natural.

What size does she want it to be?

I didn't ask actually, offered to come up with a couple of ideas for her.

I got as far as a planted bowl - but I do like the sound of your idea, that sounds nice.

I've gone for a design ring with phalaenopsis orchids in the centre and foliage on the ring itself.

She's really pleased with the idea, I just hope what's in my head looks as good when I make it

I've done a few of these leila, usually large displays about 4'long. they tend to be for say a man who was a keen gardener and what was wanted was something that resembled a garden if you like. Right now there are quite a few plants available e.g. geranium, verbenas, fuschia, pot ivy etc. I do these in shallow square dishes, usually 2 or 3 butted together as they can be heavy if done in one piece. Add in some grasses and moss around the edges etc to create a wild garden theme. Of course, it's not everyone's cup of tea but far removed from exotic plant arrangements. I'll try and find some pics later if i can.
