funeral flowers for a loved one
hello everyone
i didnt whether or not to post this, but i thought if anyone had any advice for me it would be on here. My dad is in the last few days of his life after suffering from cancer, he is at the point where he doesnt really respond to us now, and what my dad was has now gone, we have all been talking about the flowers for his funeral as i see it as a very personal way to express how we feel i asked my stepmother what she wanted and she would like a heart my grandmother would like a cross my sister and i are having a dad frame from us both as we are both florists but we also wanted to do a piece each as well i wanted to do a heart before i found out that was my stepmother wanted, and its sounds awful but now i am compleatly out of ideas as to what to do for him, its like my mind has gone blank, he wasnt really into anything in a big way, like football or anything, and i wanted a special idea i just cant think of what to do, i just wanted to know if anyone has done any funeral tributes that they thought were really original, it will only be a few days before i have to make this and i just cant think of anything, im sorry for depressing people but who better to ask than a bunch of florists, im sure i could think of something if it wasnt so close to me, but everything just seems cheesy or dated, and usually i can do some quite creative things, any input would be appreciated, i didnt quite know what section to put this in thanks lisa |

Hi Lisa,
Sorry to hear about your father, I lost my father some years back (cancer too) so I know how hard a time you are going through right now. I cant see why you couldn't do a heart from you even that there is one from your stepmother. If you feel for a heart I really think you should do that. If you are doing both ,from you and your stepmother you can simply make them different. Did he have any favorite flowers or colours? Pia

Hi
I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I lost my Dad just over a year ago to Lung Cancer so I too know what you are going through. Dad asked me to do his flowers as I qoute "there cheaper" he then said no it would make me proud. No presure there then. I did a simply casket arrangement of white roses and lillies. It is hard to think what to do. Life is hard!!!!! My very best wishes to you and your family. Take Care Ian |

thank you for your replys,
i asked my stepmum if he has a favourite flower and she said she didnt know, its not the sort of thing i wanted to ask him, and i couldnt now anyway, it wouldnt make any sense to him, i have never been fond of cushoins or pillows but i like the idea of a gardeny feel, he had a lovely garden until recently when he didnt have time to tend to it anymore, my sister and i have already decided on a loose dad frame, and its what we both wanted to do, i know my stepmum wants her heart red and white, but i love the gardeny looking stuff, its so free and it always looks nice i think my colours are going to be deep reds and blues, cos i think they look lovely, thank you for all your ideas it really is appreciated lisa |
