Difficult?? how often??

Does anyone find it difficult to put something different in their windows all the time, and how often do you change them?

yeah i try and have a seasonal theme...we do a proper change every month or so cos its such a big job, and titivate it every few weeks..i'm trying to get a stock of props like nice fabrics and that can be used for for the window displays cos the previous owner never changed the display or themed it it was alaways just full of boring silk arrangements..

In the past few months we did scary halloween with hanging witches hats, flying broomsticks, and props like a tombstone with black and orange silk arrangements, spiders and cobwebs.
We had a christmas one with a black and white tree and glitzy silvery fabric and fake snow everywhere and a santa stuck in the chimney for the small window.
The the pics are in the gallery for the valentines one i think but it was basically heidi and boris in the buff apart from sexy, feathery flowery under garments and valentines props.
The mothers day one was really chintzy and pretty i got a load of retro flowery fabric and pastely colour props and had a heidi at an irony board in a pinny with washing and stuff around her

I don't spend loads on props the local cheap shop or tesco usually has very seasonal things in like easter chicks or plastic eggs in pastely colours and the main bulk of the stuff is for sale or can be re-used. We usually have three panels of fabric or wallpaper hanging to give a nice backdrop and frame the display it really helps show it off.

I have loads of hooks in the ceiling cos the top of the window is quite high and from outside the customers are looking upwards so we always have something hanging like the muslin and ivy in the wedding window

We have two big windows (though nowhere near as big as yours Sarah). When I took over my shop the previous owner had two massive stone urn things in them which took up loads of space so I auctioned them off and then realised why he had put them there!! In the end I put a workbench in one window so customers could see someone working close up but the other one was always a headache coming up with new ideas. About 18 months ago we had a Metz training day at the shop and the designer shifted every last stick of furniture around. We now have display tables in both windows which has doubled the display space in the shop and saves the headache of coming up with full height themed windows with props etc all the time. I haven't looked back from this, though it was a shame to loose the workbench in the window, it was fun to work there and people did stop to look at what you were up to.

Like the idea of the workbench in the window that would really make them stop and look
