I haven't done a red summer wedding yet. I did have one coming up but they split! Most of my summer weddings are pink or ivory. I get ever so excited when they want something different! Gloriosas are nice with red roses, just flicked through a wedding book and theres very little in there with red roses mixed with other stuff. Only really lime green and pink.

We've got a red rose wedding in a couple of week but it's literally a tightly packed handtie so nothing overly exciting. Oh and the bride wants diamantes through the centre of each rose, I hate that.

I don't mind if they're throughout the bouquet as the spray type ones, but I can't get my head around things pinned into the centre of a rose. Poor rose!

i usually use grand prix and that is a bit burgundy anyway so sometimes burgungy gerbs or germinis, depends what style it is tropical anthuriums are a true red but most red flowers have tones of orange or blue. Cos really cymbids are not a proper red I try to not get too caught up in the "it has to be..pure white or pure red" thing it just makes things difficult, tones of this and tones of that are more workable

Hi rosa, i usually just blag my way out of using red flowers for summer weddings because of the very reason you have given! I say all white in the churches as it "stands out better than red from a distance" and table arr use greenery to lighten the arrangements along with red roses. It does depend on the red rose though, grand prix roses you can get away with burgandy flowers and passion roses blood red flowers. really just using the same usual suspects in red for arrangements if you really have to ie gerbs, roses, anthuriums, alstro etc and using pretty summer greenery to make it look more summery ie fountain grass, wiegelia, etc

oh forgot dahlias you can get red but i think its expensive if you specify exact colours

i love dahlias, when i used to work more out in the country, i used to pass a farm that had dahlias outside with an honesty bucket, couldn't resist them even though I worked in a florist lots of lovely summery colours
