Just thought of something else. Look carefully at any xmas decs that you can 'break down' into nice small pieces to add to arrangements. They might seem pricey at the time but work out ok per section. Things like berrried garlands or look out for packs of 'sugar' effect fruit, they make classy looking wreaths.

Good advice...if you've got the right sort of clientele, have loads of stuff 'ready to go' They all seem to think that if they order it a week before, you'll make it a week before. So they come in on xmas eve and want you to make something really special with all your 'fresh flowers', just as you're trying to pack up and head off to the pub!

christmas
Hi Mel, For me it's holly wreaths. By Chrstmas day my arms are in such a state after several weeks of "holly attack" that people tend walk around me in a wide circle in case it's something catching.
I make wreaths for the grave which I keep low priced and simple. Some people just want them made out of holly and others a mixture of evergreen and holly. People will pay a little more if it has berries on it and I usually ask them which colour bow they would like on it. these wreaths attract the customers who want wreaths for their doors. I put cones, dried fruit, nuts etc on these and they are often customised for a client. Good Luck with you first Christmas.

Hi there,
It was my first Christmas last year and like you I didn't know what to expect. However this is what I learned if it's of any use to you. Holly wreaths are a real winner and don't underestimate how many you might need. I had ordered 80 from my supplier and he let me down ,by this time I was sitting with orders for 90 odds. Nothing for it but to get stuck in. The quickest and easiest way was use oasis rings. I based with cypres then holly ,stuck in some berries Christmas rosies or posettias or lilies and a choice of poly prop ribbon. They could also choose 10" base which eneded up being 14" or 14" which was a beauty at 20". Was frantic but it was a real payer. I have already wired berries and ribbons for 75 so far. Try using a pair of welders gloves for the holly. Abit heavy but works a treat. ![]() I also did an open night at the end of November and it was a real winner. Served mulled wine, mince pies ,fruit cake and roasted chestnuts. If they drink your drink they feel guilt ridden to buy, if that fails get them sozzled and remind them the next day of the fantastic order they gave you .They'll be too embarrassed to deny it. A win win situation |
