yup before i had my own shop i worked in loads of shops in manchester and none of them were ever busy between xmas and new year, the bar steward owners had the time off and poor staff still knackered from xmas week had to plod on, weddings and all!
There were never any decent reasonably priced fresh flowers about and a lot of wholesalers close. So its generally a pain in the arse and for the amount of trade its not worth it. At my shop now we have a lot of business customers and they all close for the xmas period so no problem with them, theres never any funerals either so we close up on the xmas eve normal time and come back in january......bliss!!
