Hello Louisa, I've had my shop 3 years and I still wonder on a daily basis was I INSANE haha!!!! I'm going in later to catch up on admin
. We are lucky with our windows as we are on the shady side of the street and the windows are also recessed from the pavement. We don't do special window displays, they are set out as part of the main interior shop displays with plants and pots etc. We used to have a workbench in one window, that caught people's eye and it saves the headache of thinking about what to put in it each week. On the losing customer front, yes you will lose some, but you will also gain some too .Last edited by rosa alba; 12-08-2007 at 12:27 PM. |

Hi Louisa, although I can't give you practical advice, I just wanted to say well done for taking the plunge in getting your own shop. Its my dream to do that one day and your feelings of doubt are only natural and am sure you'll make a success of it because you know the pitfalls and can work round them. All the best

Get used to the panic attacks! My shops been open 5 months and I started from scratch. You do have moments of absolute terror but then you also have moments of great achievement. I think the answer is stay positive cos if your not theres no point in even being there. Its all worth it in the end I promise! I set out with a daily target just to pay the bills and its funny how 5 mths later I'm hugely disappointed if I take that figure!
