Have been asked to quote for providing flowers for an awards night. The theme of the evening is Art Deco/1930s

I was thinking Calla Lillies but wasn't sure what else would work to give that
'30s feel - the event is in November. The displays they want would be entrance to the ballroom, registration desks and table centres.

Will get on the web and through some books for inspiration. Any advice from you guys though would be appreciated - thanks

i wouldn't know where to start defo look on internet for ideas i just see those dresses with the fringing thats all and brass bands!!!

I used to really be into Art Deco years ago; am thinking orange and black callas - very Clarice Cliff. They'd probably work well in bubble bowls as table centres

For the main display it'll need to be quite angular/geometric - clean lines, basically the stuff I like doing!

You will cover this area on your level 2, I did mine over 3 years ago cannot remember what we covered. You will have to watch with the bubble bows, the square vase would be better for this era, also calla lillies would be lovely but not in keeping with the era. Longi Lillies were the in thing in those days as were Purple/Blue bearded Iris. I am sure you will find loads on Internet to help. Books from Library may also cover this era. Just wish I had kept my stuff from college grrrr.

Yep, callas, longi, anthurium etc are all very art deco. Strong lines and striking shapes. Blacks & whites a must.
An excellent reference point are the floral arrangements in Agatha Christie's Poirot. No joke! Take a look
