Delivering wedding bouquets???

Hi,
Can any one help when it comes to delivering wedding bouquets.... Do you deliver them in water? or just in a box or what? If the bride wanted the flowers delivering in the morning but the wedding wasn't untill the afternoon?

Thanks
Flowermill

You've pretty much got to play that as it comes as every case is going to be different. I suspect that most brides will want to see the flowers early so they can cross them off the list and relax a bit. Who knows...you may not even turn up..or you may trip over walking down her drive and trash them all. Only kidding of course but you can see what i mean. As far as she's concerned they should last a week, so a few hours won't be a problem.
You're going to be governed by the type of flowers used, how they are done (dry or foam), how they have been conditioned, what stage they are at, the weather, can you wrap them to minimize evaporation, can you store them somewhere cool at the brides house, etc, etc.
I nearly always did the flowers up the night before on the basis that if you're using decent products they will stand up ok. If they don't look good in the morning then you would have been in trouble anyway. Talk to the bride. Explain how you will be delivering and why. I've often delivered hand ties in a bucket with some water. She won't be on her own. There will be bridesmaids, mums, best friends etc. One of these will be quite capable of trimming the ends to the right length and blowing over with a hair dryer to seal them. If you explain that your main concern is how good she looks with her flowers and that you still want them to look good at midnight, she will usually appreciate this. I've never had anyone say "presentation is a bit naff". They're looking at the flowers, not the box. of course, if you're aiming to be high class, top end of the market with a price to match, then you will need to invest in some swanky boxes or packaging to keep the image up.
