Yvie...Variegated holly can be hard to find. It's usually a large tree..in someone else's garden. Most people are reluctant to let you prune their trees...understandably. I've heard of cases where cowboys have asked politely if they could prune a few branches and before you know it they've hacked off all the branches, into th epickup and off down the road. It never hurts to ask though, someone may be about to do some pruning. You can buy it from wholesalers usually packed in flower boxes. It can be quite dear as such, but if you use it sparingly you can cover the cost. If you intend being in the trade for a long time, I would buy a tray of small shrubs and get them in the ground now. In another ten years you will have all you need. If you haven't got room in your own garden and depending on where you live, you could find a friendly farmer and ask if you could plant some in a hedgerow, so that you could cut them in future years. All these things i wish I had done 20 years ago!
