I feel absoloutely awful,this must be the worst day i've had since opening the shop.Its been a manic week here made worse by my part timer being off on hols.I have been running around like a blue arse fly but today topped it all.I've had a few funerals to do and one of them was a bit of a nightmare with the family not even knowing the right day for the funeral!!!So i've been trying to get that sorted.In the meantime had another funeral with a family that really knew what they wanted and i have gone out of my way to do it for them and was so pleased with the results.I always ring the funeral directors to find out when they need the flowers to arrive and was told they needed to be there at 2 today because it was a late funeral.In the back of my mind i thought it was earlier but i guess i just wasn't thinking properly and didn't question it.So today ws like an army operation getting everything out on time with just the help of my driver.Then to my horror my driver came back from the afternoon drop to say the funaeral flowers should have been there at 10.30!!!!!! I was devastated.Apparently there was a funeral this morning and a cremation this afternoon!!! No one had told me this.I rang the funeral directors and they denied telling me they had said 20'clock delivery but i am so meticulous about my times i wasn't having any of it and i distinctly remmber them saying the time.He said i was trying to pass the buck!!!But i am so not like that.Now i am going to have to face the family and i know for sure they are going to be so angry and i just want to hide.I would never knowingly have delivered those flowers late and i am so GUTTED as i took so much care over them i could cry

Oh no, what a shitty day. Time for wine and/or cake. They mend most things .

Bloody undertakers, no one ever wants to take responsibility. If I was you, I'd go to the family before they come to you, they may feel better that you acknowledge the mistake before they build their rage up, and it may take the wind out of their sails a bit. Good luck however it goes.

Can't rely on anyone can you, I guess it was more like them passing off there mistake.

ive had this before.

rang undertakers asking what time flowers need to be there, and it was errrrr, ummmmmm, 10am should be fine. I felt uneasy about it, so when the family bought the cards back, i double checked with them, and they told me the undertakers were supposed to be picking them up at 9.30am.


Needless to say, i delivered the night before instead.


I have started doing a fair few the night before now since there was a fire in a factory near us, and all the roads were closed off, and we had a 9am delivery for family flowers, and i was pookakking myself we wouldnt get there in time.

God what a nightmare for you. I can feel your gut wrenching horror.
Definately go to them first, even if it is tonight. Be humble, be apologetic, but be emphatic that you were following the undertakers instructions and that you cannot believe he could have made such an appaling mistake. Tell them that nothing can compensate for their dissappointment but you will take the undertaker to task in the strongest terms possible as it is not only their feelings but your reputation that is at stake, and say you will get to the bottom of it FOR THEM.

I'm not contacting them tonight,i'm just too tired to think striaght let alone try and explain whats happened.I think what elouise said is right,just get all flowers there early but it just wasn't an option for me on this occassion with my part timer away i worked late last night but had to leave to get my children to bed.I just can't do it all.Had so many orders to get out today was just too much for me on my own.I feel really down.Haven't even got a bottle of wine to drown my sorrows.I try so hard to get things out on time,this is the first time it has gone wrong but oh have i done it in big style.Wheres the box of chocs??

Like you say, you can't do it all, especially when you have children, you are not superwoman.

We all make mistakes, but it's not like you had even made one.
