minimum wage increases and Holiday entitlement
Today the follow new rules apply:
The adult rate for the statutory minimum wage will go up from £5.35 to £5.52 and from £4.44 to £4.60 for 18 to 21-year-olds. The rate for 16 and 17-year-olds will increase from £3.30 to £3.40 an hour. The annual leave entitlement will rise from 20 to 24 days a year, for people who work five days a week, and will rise again to 28 days from April 2009. So more costs to be added for us owners by the government ![]() |

![]() No no, its just this the MINIMUM amount anyone can be paid for any job ![]() It is to try an stop poverty in Britain and make sure people are getting a fair wage... its still not enough to live on for most people but is better than having no minimum wage at all. For example if you took on a trainee in your shop you would pay them minimum wage until they were better qualified. As far as I have heard, people in Denmark have a higher quality of living than those in Britain. You get paid more but then it costs more to live.... I think ![]()

Not everyone has kids and I don't get a penny off the government. As an employer do you have to contribute to Working Tax Credits? I've never had any dealings with this
