Hi everyone, can you help?

Hi all,

I have two exams Thursday, a Topiary Tree and a Basket Arrangement.

Can anyone advise me the best foliage for the Topiary Tree, we have practiced it only two times and both times I have struggled to cover the oasis, also is there a quick way to open up pine cones, I have lots but they haven't opened up yet and I'd like for them to be open so I can spray them.

Thanks all,

Bel x

Hello Bell,

The best thing for topary trees is ming fern. alternatively have you got any foliage in your garden like viburnum or eunonymous, never can spell or say that one! Try putting your cones on a low heat in the oven for an hour or two, they only open when they are dry. If you ever need closed ones put them into warm water for few hours and they close again - clever little things!

Good luck with your assesment.

Breezy

Hi Bel
Tree ivy is a good free foliage for topiary trees and you could always use some moss to cover the oasis at the base, good luck with exam on thursday

Thankyou

Thankyou very much girls for the advice.

A friend of mine picked me lots of fern, and I stuck the cones in the oven as you suggested and they have opened up nicely.

Will grab alot of Ivy too.

Thanks for the advice,

Kind regards

Bel
