He's actually got a harness (whcih I hate) as I can't hold him with a neck collar, will the halti work with this?

Sorry Fizzy Harness is no good at all - the strongest part of any dog is his shoulders therefore a harness gives him the power to PULL.

The halti will do the work of the collar - the neck collar would mearly provide added security so he cant get out of it.

Its a bit like a horse, its like a head collar, you are guiding by their nose. If they pull, you pull down and they cant do much about it.

Why not try the halti in doors first he may very well accept it with out much bother. If not you can get the collar after.
