Florist News

I had a new girl starting today,she came in the shop last week,i sort of knew her,she had done a years college course and was keen on working in my shop.Well she invited herself on a weeks trial starting today and has she tunred up ???? Noooooooo,not a phone call nothing.Wouldn't it have been good manners just to let me know she wasn't interested??What is wrong with some people?

obviously she has too much money to worry about a job. when/if she phones pretend you don't know her and hang up

hope you find someone soon. this is my big worry, i am not taking a florist on i am just having someone to work the front selling the cards, candles etc, if it takes off i could be waiting for an age till i can get a florist. they should have a (decent) website just for advertising floristry positions. the only one i have come accross are for big london florists paying the earth

I have had the same for interviews. It's so annoying, you plan your time around these people and then they don't even have the decency to turn up.

One lad a couple of months ago, sent me his cv and the job centre phoned me asking if he had got an interview as they were helping him find a job, I said yes. They said he thought florists were discriminating cos he's a boy and florists didn't want to work with him blah blah. He didnt turn up, no phone call, nothing. So I let the job centre know exactly why he couldn't get a job!

its so naughty of them i would give a lad a job if he had something t offer (flowers this)

I dread having to take somebody on full time, a lot of people say staff cause them so much grief, I have a lady that I can call on to come in and help she is fab, but does not want to do full time, at the mo can't afford it, I want any wages that are goingchance would be a fine thing

Like you say, unfortunately some people just don't have manners

But I guess if she'd done that, then she wasn't the right one for you anyway. You wouldn't have wanted anyone unreliable.
