Costing for buttonholes

Anyone give guide for carnation b/h, rose b/h and wristlet my suggestion was £3, £5 and £15 but my colleague says I am ripping people of. This is price structure with my last employer new employer is not florist nor is my colleague but latter is very overbearing and tends to win argument every time. Help? Rach

Hi Rach, where my daughter works (Derby)
Carnation B/H with greenery £1-75
Single Rose B/H with greenery £2-75
Wristlet single Rose with greenery £10-00
Wristlet double Rose with greenery £12-50
50p added to the above prices if Gyp is included
Hope this helps,I suppose it all depends on overall costings in your area.

cost of buttonholes

Hi Planter
Thanks for your help 90% of our buttonholes etc are done with diamonte/beads/chrystals and coloured wire very seldom do we sell just flower with foliage hence the higher costing. Prices you have quoted are similar to ours for flower and foliage. Thanks again Rach

About level with Planter, which I think is fair. If you are adding 'bling' and creating something special then the higher price would be justified. You are not a registered charity (i hope!)

buttonholes

Thanks for your reply I was costing with new employer as we had with my previous employer who I was with for 17 years and our customers returned time and sagain so our prices can't have been bad my colleague has worked in floristry for 7 months and has no training but is agreat worker and does have a real flair feel sometimes all the money I have spent on traing has been wasted sometimes when she talks to me as if I have 2 heads and am a child does'nt believe in charging a customer make up for any product so we are both charging different prices boss wants make up charges but finding it hard to cinvince her thus buttonhole price query?? Thanks again Rach

Buttonholes

Hi Rach,
Believe me, when your boss has to work late to do 100 buttonholes after working hard all day, then completing the brides, maids, table arrangements etc. she'll soon justify charging for buttonholes.
By the time you add up the cosst of the flower, foliage, which is not cheap, tape and wires, then the bling, my goodness, then the labour, vat ,and tax on profit.
i don't think it's a rip off.
Go girl, win this one!!!

Hi Flowerfairy thanks for your reply boss was in agreement with me it was may colleague who has been working in the business for 1 year no college course/training etc is good with her hands but assumes people haven't got or can't afford to pay dear why are they coming in for god's sake gives discount all the time and refuses to charge for make up/skill, paper, eco vase, wires, tape etc were also free as is foliage for wreaths due to me cutting mine which I am glad to do my garden is an acre and half but as a new business boss was trying to make money not give stuff away but thankfully slowly but surely we are getting there while things are not quite on track yet we are almost there and have talked her round by degrees finer wedding items my colleague can't do so I've said I would only do it if it was sold for the proper price with no discount so have won that one still not charging enough for greenery so the boss and myself have one price and when we are out she goes cheaper but we are definately winning. Thanks again. Rach

I must be missing something here. Surely the 'boss' sets the price, along with every other aspect of how the business is run and everyone working for the 'boss' does it that way, regardless of what their preferences may be in another situation. If an employee refuses to follow instructions as laid down by management, then that is grounds for a verbal warning. If the non-compliance continues, then that is grounds for a written warning. If non-compliance still continues, then that is grounds for dismissal. These warning stages can be minutes apart if necessary. Therefore, I see no reason why the 'boss' cannot have things done any way he/she wants.

Thats the problem Boss is owner of Card shop and my colleague is her daughters best friend who as I say is only working as a florist for a short time boss only discovered my colleagues lack of knowledge when I spoke up. Boss told us she was depending on us to keep her right and employed me as in my last employment I was Manager and had done all the owner was doing as her daughter is a lawyer interview was conducted by both everything was going fine until I discovered what was not being charged then accounts were looked at and this is when this cropped up unfortunatley friendship is not a good basis for employing anyone. Hope this explains the situation, I had thought about moving on but boss is so nice and a good business person but didn't understand costing of florist I would really like to see her succeed and feel a failure if I didn't help her achieve this although we are not a full year opened we have built up a good customer base and are busy so I would like to see it through is the reason I stay. Rach

I must say I admire your TLC (Tenacity/Loyalty/Courage). It's a pity you don't live over here. you could run this place and I could retire to a sunny beach. You could send me a cheque each month and keep the rest.
