Fishy dilemna

I have the great fortune of doing an angler for Christmas grave. So heres the problem. I would like the fish to look like a fish (no kidding folks) and I vaguely remember seeing a leaf that is tiny, ovate, green on the top and silvery on the bottom. ring any bells with anyone? I was thinking I could go with red and gold leucadendron and layer the coloured bits but I think they may be too big. Any help would be appreciated - somehow I don't think cutting up tin foil as suggested by my o/h would be an option!

Senecio is grey/green on top and silver underneath and the tops of the leaves have a silver edge to them, it's oval but not tiny and have no idea if you can get it commercially, but I have cut it from my garden and used it pinned and layered, think it could look quite effective as scales.

If you want a tiny leaf what about cereopegia? Burgundy underneath, mottled grey on top, heart shaped leaf. You'd have to cut plants up.

You could think about using skeleton leaves and layering them to give the impression of scales

Thanks for all your great ideas - I am now in a dilemma of whether to do the angler or whether to talk her into the fish - that is ace!

But I really like your idea Celticlass - skeleton leaves it will be. Knew there was a more elegant answer than tin foil - oh the pain of having a non-floristy type for o/h!

I would try for the fish it's so good, and I think would give a more professional finish
