Hi, i will probably be going for the Passion variety, these were very popular last year, i wont know exactly how much they will be for a little while yet, because my wholesalers havent told me, so if anyone has been told i would like to know, we charged £40-£50 for the dozen rose bqs last year depending on what was with them. I will probably be going for the passion in 80cm as well, depending on what orders we get, i also had some grand prix, but they didnt sell to well at £4.50 a stem, so i was left with a few

We offer a dozen premium Grand Prix hand tied with waxflower, 3 types of foliage and beaded garland/string of hearts/sparkly wire finishing touch for £65.
To avoid embarrassment we always print up a 'menu' for our counter so men can browse what price point they want. Most go for the full dozen. A handful take a half dozen and the rest send our pink/ red Hand Tie with red rose in the centre for £40 or £50. We have pick-em-ups and tulips from £15 and samples made up so they can see what they're getting. And we always upsell chocs and wine with a nudge, nudge, wink wink works a treat! |

1.40 for Passion 60cm isnt too bad for Ireland. I do think that 1.20 for Colombian Freedom is a bit steep. I have received a lot of prices being quoted all around the UK, and the ballpark figure for passion is : 60cm - 1.05 - 1.25 (more 1.20/1.25) 70cm - 1.25-1.45 (more 1.35/1.45) 80cm - 1.45 - 1.55 The lower prices are from suppliers in the lesser quality bracket, so I would say if you are quoted 1.20/1.35/1.50 respectively, I would say you will be paying the market value for a good quality Passion. I think Ireland would be 15p/20p per stem dearer. If you are using Import roses, be a little cautious on the quality, but more imprtant take into account the extra time needed to strip the thorny buggers, and peeling off the outer petals to make sure they are clean. A little tip as well, if you normally have credit from your supplier, ask for a better quote if you pay on delivery, and obviously if you always pay on delivery, use that as a leverage point !! hope this helps a few out there. |

Valentines
Hi Gringo
Thanks for your reply our dutch supplier quoted passion extra today at £1.30 for Valentines so think we are going with that her company are quoting 60p-75p for freedom but won't sell some of the columbian varieties at the moment because they are still at the testing stage and until all tests are complete she says they won't supply them. compared to last years prices from a different supplier we are getting a good price and we have had this suppliers roses in the shop a few times for 3 weeks and because of the good condition of them we still have been able to use them at the end of this period for funeral work. Thanks again for your help and advice will try for a discount by cash on delivery. Rach |

If its a price thing, fine, buy freedom and sell it for half the price of the passion, and give the customer value for money, but a lot of florists sell the colombian roses for Dutch prices, and thats no good for all of us !! Ok, got that off my chest. I'm ok now. ![]() |

Hi Gringo
Totally agree about the freedom had heard of it but only saw it yesterday for the first and didn't like it we had decided not to go with it but were waiting to see what our dutch supplier was offering we sell passion all year round and will be selling it at valentines with grand prix at the higher end of the scale fortunately or unfortunately you guys in Holland always produce the goods we can buy the same item from our wholesaler locally but the quality is not as good I expect he has a few days before we get them so we prefer to cut out middle man where possible once again thanks for you input.
