why not have some little red raffia bows made ready in case she wants to add something you never know what the customer is thinking and if there are quite a few then she maybe annoyed at haveing wait and if she doesn't want then then pop in a bag for xmas or vals day they won't go to waste

In most cases just left them natural. Would nearly always ask at the time of ordering if they wanted simple ribbon or raffia. Some did, some didn't. Default would be naked. In a case like this there is no need to feel you have to do something to them to justify the price or prove your capabilities.
As to 'biodegradable', i don't think it really matters with a cremation, it's going to be toasted anyway. It just comes down to personal preference by the customer. If it's a wicker coffin it tends to be everything 'natural'. Did quite a few wickers with trailing ivy all round. Just what i had in the garden. They always looked the part.
